UniCal suspends 2 students over exam misconduct

The University of Calabar (UniCal) has suspended two students of its Department of Economics for one academic session over alleged examination misconduct.

This is contained in a statement released by the spokesman of the institution, Mr Effiomg Eyo, and made available to newsmen in Calabar on Saturday.

According to the statement, the students were suspended for the 2026/2027 academic session following their alleged possession of unauthorised materials during the ECO 307 (Project Evaluation) examination held on Feb. 20, 2026.

“The university communicated the decision in separate letters dated Oct. 5, 2026, signed by the Registrar, Dr Chukwuka Icha.

“The letters identified the affected students as Godswill Udom and Chukwu Godswill.

“According to the letters, the Senate approved the recommendations of its Examination Misconduct Committee at its 258th meeting held on Oct. 2, 2026,” he explained.

The spokesman further said the university also cancelled the students’ results in the affected course, ECO 307 (Project Evaluation).

The students are expected to resume their studies in the 2027/2028 academic session.

“The Acting Chief Security Officer, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Head of the Department of Economics, were directed to ensure compliance with the Senate’s decision,” he concluded.
